Indira Gandhi Agricultural University was formerly known as Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya. It was established on 20 January 1987 by the Government of India under the act of parliament. The campus of the University is located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. Indira Gandhi Agricultural University was established after bifurcating from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. It is named after the first lady prime minister of India " Indira Gandhi". The University offers numerous degree, diploma and certification courses in three faculties i.e. Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering. IGKV has 16 constituent colleges and 15 affiliated colleges located in major districts of Chhattisgarh, India. Indira Gandhi Agricultural University also offers the Ph.D. programme in various specializations.
